How Excel to TXT conversion works

  2. Each row is written as values separated by tab characters, one sheet after another with a sheet heading.

Conversion quality: Exact. Cell values are written as a tab-separated text file per sheet.

When to convert Excel to TXT

  • Pasting spreadsheet data into plain-text editors

Limitations to be aware of

  • Tabs or line breaks inside cells are replaced with spaces so the structure stays valid.

Excel vs TXT

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference from CSV?

The data is the same; only the separator differs. Tabs rarely appear in real data, so tab-delimited files need no quoting.

Are my files uploaded?

No. This tool reads and processes files directly in your web browser. Nothing is sent to Expensico's servers, and the data is discarded when you close or reload the page.
